A theme from 1984 is when people find authority to
be corrupt they tend to rebel. This theme exists because in the book 1984 the
main character Winston rebels against his party. They have ever body watched by
the screens and he gets frustrated. One example that shows him rebelling is in
the beginning of book one when he writes in a journal. They are not supposed to
be writing their thoughts and he knows that it’s wrong that he is doing it, but
he continues anyways. By him doing this shows that he rebelling against the
party, because inside his head he knows it’s wrong. Another example of him rebelling
is when he starts to have a relationship with Julia. They can’t be seen
together having a relationship, but they both do it anyways. They are both
scared that they might get caught but they rebel and do it anyways. To not get
caught they meet in a secret place so they won’t be seen. This shows that in
the book Winston is not the only one rebelling against the party. Being controlled
by someone and having very strict rules can cause people to rebel, because some
people just get frustrated and tired of always being controlled.
